United Way purchases food locally and works with churches, civic groups and others to distribute it to elementary and high school students in each local school district. In 2023, United Way of Clarion County contributed over$40,000 in locally purchased food to fill the backpacks.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a monthly book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until their 5th birthday. With United Way of Clarion County as the local coordinating agency, we are supporting early learning and literacy skills while encouraging a love of reading for the entire family.
When a neighbor, friend or family member received a cancer diagnosis, the last thing we want them to do is worry about bills or unexected expenses. United Way of Clarion County’s Community Cancer Fund provides financial assistance so they can concentrate on care and recovery.
We work with other local organizations to make sure their needs are met and they feel supported throughout their journey.
Created in memory of Leeper resident, Bill Fitzgerald, the unique program provides handicap accessible ramps for individuals that are unable to safely enter or exit their home due to a permanent mobility issue caused by injury or illness. Using a local contractor, the ramps are built using ADA guidelines and quality materials to meet the specific needs of each recipient.
